A tale of the Thief and the Fool.
Deadpool was enjoying this, Fantomex and himself were not always on the best terms nor did they consistently see eye-to-eye, but this mission seemed to be more easygoing and less hostile. “Well we could probably get some sort of excitement from a nudie bar, or being chased by the cops for a heist gone wrong. Then again you’re probably way too professional to be caught.” Stifling yet another slight chuckle, the mercenary shook his head. “Wishful thinking there, bud.”
His mouth continued to run, hushed voice still grating slowly through the vent. There was a dog version of himself, why not a fish? Or a sloth. Slothpool would make it onto the Corps for sure. Stopping above the ventilation shaft he smirked. “I could go forward and let you drop down first, but okay, I’ll go in.” Lifting the grate and peering through, poking his head down to see if the room was indeed clear. Bored of surveillance, he swung his legs down and dropped lightly in.
Fantomex was pleased that it was Deadpool who accompanied him on this mission. There was a certain care-free attitude to him. Despite the gravity of the situation he could be relied upon to make light of it, a trait Fantomex admired. He chuckled as Wade poked fun at him again. “Mais oui. How could I claim to be the worlds greatest thief if I let myself get caught? I’m not as careless as Gambit. Some of us have reputations to uphold.”
Fantomex watched as Deadpool lightly lowered himself into the room. The easy part was over, now they had to plant the charges and clean up the mess. An idle thought occurred to him that he should probably have informed James and the others about this little escapade. Unfortunately the Purifiers looked as if they were getting ready to move the weapons out to their soldiers, time wouldn’t allow a more in depth meeting with the others. Jumping down after Deadpool, he was about to speak as a Purifier Guard open the door, checking the room on his patrol. Fantomex’s eyes widened, glancing at Wade before looking back at the Guard who stood shocked in the doorway. “…Uh, we mean you no harm?” Unsheathing a knife he threw it quickly it plunging into the neck of the Guard who fell forward with a thud. Whispering to Wade as he dragged the Guard in hoping the ordeal went unnoticed. “OK. This wasn’t expected. Check the hallway.”
